Get to Know the SECHC: Vanderbilt Commodores

The Vanderbilt Commodores Ice Hockey team is a DIII men’s club program that competes within the Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference (SECHC) under the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).

The team was founded in 1976 and like many of fellow universities; the students are largely responsible for managing the team. The team prides itself on its focus of building. The members of the team, own the team. Players have an opportunity to put their fingerprint on the team. With a 55-37-2-1 combined record over the last four seasons, the Dores are building a winning tradition. Combine that with their activities in the community to help grow the game of hockey in Middle Tennessee, Vanderbilt is building a class program.

Along with a 19 game schedule with all home games at the Ford Ice Center, the Dores will host the College Hockey Scholar Shootout this season. This tournament will spotlight six clubs, all nationally ranked in the top 50 academically.

After the season, Vandy always challenges a region rival to a game at Bridgestone Arena, the home of the Nashville Predators, in the Interstate Face-off Series. Whether it’s Alabama in the I-65 Faceoff or Tennessee in the I-40 Faceoff, the competition is always fierce.

Vandy also hosts the annual Interstate Faceoff Series. This game, played at Bridgestone Arena, home of the Nashville Predators, features regional rivals Alabama, I-65 Face-off, and Tennessee, I-40 Face-off.
